Naggar a small town in the lap of Himachal, and is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Its a serene and quiet place and the beautiful views and surrounding environment is just out of words. If you headed towards Kullu Manali than you must visit this place and I promise you won't regret it.
Coming to the point there are many worth visiting places in Nagar, Its a kind of historical place. Here there are the castle, Art galleries, monasteries that you can wish to see.
We were traveling from Kullu to Naggar and the views throughout the journey were just so beautiful. I remembered I had stopped my cab driver 2 to 3 times just to capture those amazing views.
The misty mountains just look too beautiful....
There are few places that I had visited the first one our driver took us to Naggar Castle
Naggar Castle
The views from Naggar Castle
This castle is built in the Pahari style and there are exquisite wood carvings and arched balconies with serene views of Beas river. This place is quite famous as this castle has been filmed in many famous movies like Jab We Met and Tubelight.
Although this castle is turned out in a hotel its historic importance is still well preserved.
The Roerich Art Gallery
Nicolas Roerich was a well-known Russian Painter who also used to write poetry. He had traveled through Tibet and Himalayas. His old home has now been converted into a museum. It is a well-maintained museum. The upper floor of the house has been in a very fragile state so visitors are not allowed to go in but can see it from the glass panels of closed windows. He spent the last few years of his life in Naggar. There are many famous paintings in this gallery so if you are an art lover then you must visit this place.
The Vishnu Temple
The Vishnu Temple which is also very famous for its beautiful fine stone carvings and it is one huge temple that made it quite different from other temples in Naggar.
The Tripura Sundari Temple
This temple is a wooden pagoda-style temple that can be accessed via a short walk on the path of Naggar Castle. It is just below the road to Roerich Art Gallery. A big annual fair is held at this temple in May when processions of deities from local villages arrive.
The Uruswati Himalayan Folk Art Museum
This museum is one of the main attractions of Naggar. It has the local folk art, costumes, original paintings of Roerich. There are many types of wood carvings displayed in this art museum such as door framework, wonderfully designed crystal pieces.
Jana Waterfall
Once you finished visiting all these places if you want to experience something more pleasant place than you must visit the Jana waterfalls which are just 12 km from Naggar. There you can enjoy the view and click pictures and it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls that you will see.
Another incredible thing about Naggar is that it has lots of options for homestays and small resorts. The homestays are located on hills where you can also spend time with the local people and waking up there is like a dream coming true.
You can also enjoy a variety of food here. The famous trout fish and there are many cafes where you can get fresh food. Also, you can get fresh seasonal fruit juices and wines from the shop which is there on the road leading to the Roerich Museum.
So overall Naggar is a very beautiful and amazing place to enjoy. I enjoyed spending time there in the calmness of nature and relax there. So next time when you are thinking to plan a relaxed and quiet vacation please do visit Naggar. The journey is worth it.
